As you know, we ingrained the Springfield community in the heart of our company. From the very beginning, we prioritize serving the community we love. This fundamental priority strengthens our resolve and grows as our company grows.
Each employee we add needs to have a strong dedication to community growth and outreach. Since volunteerism is integral to our company culture, we encourage new team members to get involved. We ask them to recommend new, fulfilling organizations they want to work with. This ensures our employees personally invest in their work!
With members of our team being survivors of domestic abuse, Harmony House was an obvious choice when looking for organizations to serve. During their 2020 iCare fundraiser, we cooked and sold tamales to raise money on their behalf. We also gathered donations from local businesses to create gift baskets for raffles. Our baskets sold hundreds of raffle tickets and we proudly exceeded our financial goals. Doing something good during a difficult time rewarded each employee. We took no payment and all proceeds from our iCare fundraiser went to Harmony House. When the holidays came around, we continued to show our support with an additional financial donation.
The following year, Harmony House asked for help with the annual iCare fundraiser. We jumped at the opportunity! This time, we asked people to sponsor hexagon-shaped tiles with an encouraging message for the residents. We attached the tiles to a painted canvas so it could brighten the shelter’s halls. This fundraiser was especially meaningful because Hiveminded made another financial donation and the encouraging words of our community created a beautiful piece of art.
Another cause close to our hearts is the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri. Sheri, Frances, Bethany, and Kindra have all had the opportunity to adopt pets from this incredible organization. Over the last few years, we’ve spent many hours volunteering at the shelter and helping to raise awareness for their “Adopt, Don’t Shop” initiative. In December 2020, we purchased everything on their Amazon wish list and even selected a few extra items to help make the staff members’ lives easier.
We understand the Holiday Season is often a hard time for many families. In 2020, we sponsored two single mothers in our community to help provide a memorable Christmas celebration for them and their children. We purchased and wrapped presents for these families so the burden was no longer on their shoulders.
Our Springfield police officers will always be close to our hearts. Their hard work and dedication to our community deserve a sweet treat; that’s why we reached out to Andy’s Frozen Custard to purchase a sundae or concrete for every Springfield police officer. We love our local police department, and we love Andy’s, so this was a simple choice! This past fall, we took part in Donuts on Deck for first responders in the community on Thanksgiving morning. We wanted to show how thankful we are for their dedication, especially as they work through the holidays.
Last year, our company culture and a little luck lead to three new hires. They brought fresh eyes and new passions to our year-old company. We encouraged their new ideas, especially when they increased our recycling efforts. Shortly after their onbording, we provided integral support and sponsorship to the first annual Nixa Fit Lift Off. The inaugural event took place in September and benefited the 4Jake Foundation and their efforts to raise awareness for mental health among teens.
Hiveminded passionately supports local women and children. Our team created a “Giving Tuesday” fundraising campaign and a End of Year campaign for Diaper Bank of the Ozarks. We are proud to say the two events exceeded their donation goals, raising over $60,000. Additionally, Hiveminded led an effort during the holiday season to collect bras, underwear, beauty products, and feminine hygiene products for I Support the Girls, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping women in need. We currently work alongside the Southwest MO Chapter Leader of I Support the Girls to create a new nonprofit focused on combating child trafficking. A lineup of our community giving would be incomplete without the Unite Springfield Blood Drive. For this annual event, we partner with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to remember and support those who lost their lives in the March 16 Kum & Go shooting. This is an important and healing way to honor our CEOs husband Officer Walsh and every life lost on that day. Chris never wanted fame or recognition for the work he did. That’s why a blood drive in his honor was the perfect way to remember him and give back to the community he loved. This year’s blood drive exceeded our goal with enough donations to save 103 lives!
When we said our new hires embraced our commitment to giving, we meant it. Our Account Coordinator Kindra researched several ways for us to continue our community contributions. She discovered Project Linus, a non-profit organization providing handmade blankets to children in need. Our team came together to hand-tie 8 blankets for children in our area. A few of us learned a new skill, and we all had fun taking a few hours to make a beautiful comfort item for children in need.
As we reflect on this list, we can’t help but feel a sense of pride and awe. Pride because we make doing good a foundational part of our lives, and awe because so many let us into their lives, organizations, and their stories. We continue to feel gratitude for the growth in ourselves and the many new friends we made over the last few years. These connections and stories are a meaningful reason each of us loves HIVEMINDED Marketing and our powerful community.
